VR6-Joe
12-01-09, 06:34 PM
Personally I think it's the bonnet and wheels that make the car, without them it's just a boring 206, no?
baveymk4
12-01-09, 06:49 PM
urm i see what you mean there mate dan why aint he sellin them with the car and are you owt tonite mate ?
squizzer86
13-01-09, 12:06 AM
I personally don't like the bonnet that much now that i've seen a close up of it.
There's more done to it than alloys and bonnet...........
Also, he'd be getting some nimrods (including a spare)!!
tomboi24
13-01-09, 12:20 AM
That is sweet Dan just look after it if you go for it lol
VR6-Joe
13-01-09, 12:36 AM
I don't know wtf nimrods are so I'm lost on that part lol.
But he's edited the advert since I last looked at it.. earlier it said the bonnet and Livewires (which I had on my old Golf ) weren't included but now he's changed it to say that the mods depend on the price..
baveymk4
13-01-09, 12:37 AM
iam in the same boat as you there buddy wtf are nimrods please explain somebody lol
squizzer86
13-01-09, 12:38 AM
Nimrods are the alloys that come as standard on a 206 gti 180. So the same wheels as laura's 206.
VR6-Joe
13-01-09, 12:38 AM
Ah those 5 spoke ones? Makes more sense now haha
baveymk4
13-01-09, 12:39 AM

13-01-09, 10:38 AM
My god! didn't realise jamie from 206info is selling up too
We are losing 206 members off that site like flies
you get get a mint GTi for less than that, my mate sold his 2001 2.0 gti in a nice blule colour
anthracite wheels
dark lights all round
lowered
fsh
sp kit
BMC induction kit
for 1800 quid!
VR6-Joe
13-01-09, 10:46 AM
Or do a sensible thing and buy something German?
squizzer86
13-01-09, 10:53 AM
Each to their own........
VR6-Joe
13-01-09, 11:08 AM
To be honest Jap/German are the only cars to buy but this is only my opinion.
I've driven a Renault Clio, total and utter crap, wouldn't p!ss on it if it was on fire.
I've driven a Punto, thought it seemed a bit 'girly'
I've driven a Vauxhall Corsa, interior seemed a bit cheap.
I've driven a couple of Escorts, typical Ford sh!te.
I've driven a Peugeot 406 estate, absolutely horrid.
However..
I've owned nothing but VW's and loved every one of them.
I've driven a Nissan Micra (newish shaped one) horrible looking cars but you'd be surprised at how lovely they are to drive.
I've driven a Mitsubishi Shogun.. not a bad drive.
squizzer86
13-01-09, 11:11 AM
So did you own a corsa then Joe? If you did, and you only found the interior a bit cheap, why didn't you just change it??
VR6-Joe
13-01-09, 11:26 AM
Noo, me, own a Vauxhall?
It belonged to my mate and I gave it a test drive.
corsa crap interior? then a bogo golf is better?? about the same nastyness i would say lol
VR6-Joe
13-01-09, 12:04 PM
Corsa B I'm referring to.. the door cards, the dash, the steering wheel, and the gearknob, they all seemed proper nasty! My Golf is a lot more luxurious! lol!
****ing hell joe if you think thats luxuary?? my mate had a golf mk3 (spawn of satan) he called it was horrid
Personally I think it's the bonnet and wheels that make the car, without them it's just a boring 206, no?
without your bits yours is just a boring 1.4 golf
squizzer86
13-01-09, 12:27 PM
Back on topic.......
without your bits yours is just a boring 1.4 golf
dont they only have a 4 speed box?
and back to topoic, yep very very overpriced!! seen 2 for under a grand!
VR6-Joe
13-01-09, 12:43 PM
Technically not Andy, because mine is a special edition model, it came with GTI arch covers, GTI skirts, GTI lights all round, and silver dials! If I had a CL then I'd totally agree but as I have an SE then I don't
And no, the 1.4's have a 5 speed box! :001_cool:
But yes I agree that the 206 is highly overpriced, could go and buy a Mk4 Golf V6 4motion for 2.5k and spend the rest on a tasty set of wheels and coilovers!
or if you really wanted a 206
buy one
set of wheels
coilovers
induction kit etc
still have change prob from 2500!

13-01-09, 10:05 PM
i dont think it is over priced if i am honest, i know the car has been looked after and everything has been done properly a lot of money has gone into it and i know some people will disagree with me but hey i like it :)
and i dont want the bonnet as mark has said it doesnt look right and i prefere nimrods aswell and to get five is better :)
cheers anyway all might try and get it a bit lower in price anyway depending if i decide to and i think it is worth less :)
soon to see hey
Its quite nice but it needs a complete respray because the bonnet is a different colour, maybe you should check and see if its been in an accident at some point??

13-01-09, 11:21 PM
That Peugeots are crap? Dude I've always known
Never had any problems with mine its all about the driver not the car :p this one better be good im giving up my sunday to go to wales to look at it lol
VR6-Joe
13-01-09, 11:34 PM
I drove to Wales 2 weeks after I passed my test, probably the most fun, and best driving experience, I've ever had. Took 4 and a half hours to get there and probably would have taken less to get back cus I was racing my mate in the car he'd just bought lmao but we kept stopping off at services to get food until we saw the prices
And I'm only joking about Peugeots! I just hate all French cars with a passion lol!
amy-v17
13-01-09, 11:38 PM
lol just noticed saxmundham....what a cool place (with all those pensioners :P) lol used to go to school in framlingham
VR6-Joe
13-01-09, 11:41 PM
Well I actually live between Saxmundham and Blythburgh.. little village called Darsham, dunno if you've heard of it? It's cool here cus it's quiet and nobody knows your business, but it's also pretty lame cus there's nobody to hang around with so I spend half my time driving round Sax lol.
amy-v17
13-01-09, 11:48 PM
well i still head out to fram alot when im home from uni so i might come drive around sax with you one day if your lucky lol (sorry for spamin your thread dan :) )
VR6-Joe
13-01-09, 11:49 PM

you need to step into the real world mate, if your thinkin of paying near 4k for a pug 206 with a set of wheels and lowered
think with your head not your heart!
honestly think if you pay more than about 1800 for it your a fool
put this into perspective,
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/02-02-Peugeot-206-CC-2-0-16v-SE-73K-FPSH-STUNNING_W0QQitemZ140281254961QQihZ004QQcategoryZ9 859QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
yeah its the limp wristed girly car BUT
its newer
its alot higher spec (quicksilver is just a name to sell it)
it has longer MOT
has a WARRENTY! so if it goes wrong....
9/10 i bet that car has been ragged to ****, sorry but most modded cars are, we all done it and will continue to do so,
im just tryin to point out not to waste your money! my mate has a 307 HDi XS all toys the works on a 52 plate, that only cost him 3200!!!! and looks alot newer and fresher than a 206
amy-v17
14-01-09, 11:22 AM
Dan could never afford the insurance on a 2.0 16v being 19 and haven written a car off within 4 months of passing his test he has to look at things that are going to be realisitic. The quicksilver he is talking about isnt just lowered and has a set of wheels its actually got quite a bit done to it, for example the interior in that car is worth £500 alone! And the milage is low for the age that the car is, also Dan and Jamie have agree a price lower than that and who knows he might be able to get it even lower once we're there. I think if he wants it and can afford it why not :)
you can get one 2 years old for 4500! itsn ot exactly "special" or different is it?
i used that as a example to show it, if he paid 500 quid doesnt mean its worth it!
car market is on its arse at the moment!
insurance wont be bad on a 2.0, i had a 2.0 at 17 then a 3 year old vectra at 18!
also with a car that age and pug expect problems, remember stuff like the cambelts, clutch, all wearable parts,
if he gets it for under 2500 good luck to him if he likes it but dont expect a good return if he tries to sell it
amy-v17
14-01-09, 12:12 PM
yeah im insured on a 2.0 have been since i was a learner but for some reason insurance compaines arent keen to insure young drivers that havent been passed a year and have already written a car off...
the interior is easily worth £500 if he sold that on the 206site im a member of then he would get that without even trying. Everybody knows that you wont get a good return on a modified car anyway, i paid £8500 for mine 2years ago and id be supprised if its woth £6000 now thats just the price you have to pay.
Everyone says that french cars are unrealiable but i have never had any problems with mine its more about the way that you drive it and treat it than the car itself. The engine and the gear box have been recently rebulit so theres not likely to be any issues there and the 206 that dan had before was older than this one and he didnt have any issues with that one.
ffs you arent listening are you? any wearable parts dont really matter if thats been well looked after a clutch will only last so long and why would it need a rebuild??? you said it had low milage?
also if he is young, insuring it with them mods? gonna cost a fortune as its gotengine mods they hate them for a start!
or is he not gonna tell his insurance firm ?? then get stopped by old bill and get done for not having insurance!
all my point is why not buy a standard one from a dealer, get the warrenty etc prob newer with a higher spec for less,
then do his own this with the left over cash?
will save you money in the long run and you know exactly what is done and why and how!
i personally like to do my own thing as i hate people saying " oh thats **** car.... bla ba bla bla!"
lol just noticed saxmundham....what a cool place (with all those pensioners :P) lol used to go to school in framlingham
so now we know why Joe hits on every female who joins up...hes only got old biddies about
amy-v17
14-01-09, 01:35 PM
You would be doing well to get one from a dealer with the same/better spec for the same amount of money i think...
...and as for joe maybe all the females on here are just really good looking lol!!
VR6-Joe
14-01-09, 01:46 PM
...and as for joe maybe all the females on here are just really good looking lol!!
This is true :thumbup1:
You would be doing well to get one from a dealer with the same/better spec for the same amount of money i think...

a 2001 1.4????? easy!!
the quicksilver was the basic model though it was silver!
there was a bogo 1.1 local to me on a 00 V plate that was only 750 quid!
this is a w plate, 00 plate, its the xs so will have the half leather, no engine rebuild and its only 2k
turn up with cash and someone with the gift of the gab think you will get it for about 1700
http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/PEUGEOT+206/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-10-18-240-4294967112-4294967204/advert.action?R=200801326068943&distance=106&postcode=pe7+1nz&channel=CARS&make=PEUGEOT&model=206&min_pr=2000&max_pr=4000&max_mileage=&vehicleYearOfManufacture=2000&vehicleRegLetter=W
i like the XS its like a GTi without the 2.0! though still a nice perky 1.6 lump which is about insurance group 6!
5 door but a 2003!
http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/PEUGEOT+206/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-10-18-240-4294967112-4294967204/advert.action?R=200902326455646&distance=62&postcode=pe7+1nz&channel=CARS&make=PEUGEOT&model=206&min_pr=2000&max_pr=4000&max_mileage=&vehicleYearOfManufacture=2003&vehicleRegLetter=52
but IF i was to buy one would be this
2001, HDI! the diesel pug engines are far better than the petrol ones (i used to have a company van oen and took such a caning!) and will get it under 2k! and do silly mpg!
http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/PEUGEOT+206/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-10-18-240-4294967112-4294967204/advert.action?R=200851112425493&distance=276&postcode=pe7+1nz&channel=CARS&make=PEUGEOT&model=206&min_pr=2000&max_pr=4000&max_mileage=&vehicleYearOfManufacture=2001&vehicleRegLetter=
non of the above have needed a engine rebuild! all way under 100k miles, yep the diesel has 80k but its 2001 so thats 10k a year! not bad and will rack up another 80 with no problem!
and i must admit it looks darn tasty and already has the GTi kit on,
so add some 17s, dunno what them 180/hdi wheels go for but say 300 quid inc tyres? but nice wheels on it really
coilovers /decent springs - you only need 2, torsion bar on the rear say 250
gti180 interior - 500 quid or get some nice sparco seats etc
then all the other bits you are still way under 3k!! and i THINK the 2.0 HDi had gti half leather interior too!
or the whole budget of 4k on a 05 plate with 10k on the clock!
http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/PEUGEOT+206/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-10-18-240-4294967112-4294967204/advert.action?R=200902326422329&distance=73&postcode=pe7+1nz&channel=CARS&make=PEUGEOT&model=206&min_pr=2000&max_pr=4000&max_mileage=&vehicleYearOfManufacture=2005&vehicleRegLetter=
or a quicksilver 04
http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/PEUGEOT+206/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-10-18-240-4294967112-4294967204/advert.action?R=200845322480811&distance=86&postcode=pe7+1nz&channel=CARS&make=PEUGEOT&model=206&min_pr=2000&max_pr=4000&max_mileage=&vehicleYearOfManufacture=2004&vehicleRegLetter=04
then if your brave or no someone in the business (dealer / mechanic) look at auctions!! most dealers add at least 1k onto the price so if they are up for 2k what you think they paid!!
hope that all helps try shine some light on it, ask alot of questions about the rebuild, why when and reciepts! if its something like cambelt failure then fair enough but if its a monkey in his garage then be very warey my old cav had a engine rebuild by a DIYer and it was never right! had my scoob one done professionaly so when i sold it i had a A4 file full of reciepts and bits and photos too so they could see the big ass hole in the block!
might seem a nice guy on a forum and keep his car tip top on the outside and if you buy it hope he is a honest guy but there are some chancers out there that will flog on a lemon to get shot and make it look pretty ( i have but the guy who bought it was a mate and knew it was a lemon!) !!
can never ask too many questions when buying a car!!!!!! prob the most expesnive thing you will own compared to a house,
im not being a arse im just tryin to make you open your eyes a bit and DONT buy with your heart!!!! ot only ends up in a broken heart and wallet
and if your unsure of anything post it up here im sure a few of us will shine some light on
amy-v17
14-01-09, 02:07 PM
the 2.0hdi dont have half leather thats what i drive, and some people dont want a diesel car. its really upto dan what he wants to do, the 2.0 hdi has more miles on it than the quicksilver that he was looking at has and its the same year. On average the quciksilver has done 7750 miles a year with the average beig 12k a year that well under. Just depends what your looking for in a car
diesel will take more miles, then why is the question did it need a rebuild???????
my quess is Ragged to ****!
my old one did have half leather, wasnt a factory upgrade either, strange!

right to clear a few things up as there has been a few asumptions and they are mainly my fault as i didnt post them up
1)as amy has said i am not going to get insurered on a 2.0gti or anything else that is above on a 1.6 petrol. it is my own insurance policy and i am main driver atc, not under a parents policy. if anyone says i can get insurered on something above a 1.6 petrol please enlighten me as i would love to.
2) i do declare all mods that are on a car and i have already spoken to jamie about the ones on his car and we have agreed that pretty much all the engine mods wont be on with the exception of the full though exhaust system
3) i dont want the wheels or bonnet which is why they are not on there
4) i havent made a decision yet as i have not viewed the car, it might be in a complete sh*t state, but i am wise enough to know that if there are any problems to steer clear, i have viewed a number of cars with my dad and so know what to look out for etc.
cheers
